Our vision at Healdswood Infant and Nursery School is for PSHE to prepare our children for the opportunities, experiences and responsibilities of life and living in the 21st Century. At the core of our curriculum is the personal development and well-being of each pupil and we wholeheartedly believe PSHE permeates through our school ethos and values. As part of PSHE, Relationships Education (RE), Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education England Regulations 2019 have made RSE compulsory in all primary schools from September 2020. At Healdswood Infant and Nursery School, we use the the ‘Talking Points’ Scheme to deliver the government guidance on Health and Relationships Education. The Talking Point Scheme uses books as a ‘Talking Points’ to promote appropriate discussions with children thus acquiring knowledge and experiences of:
Our Talking Points Scheme also encourages children to develop respect for others and others’ opinions, a love of reading and empowers our pupils with the vocabulary and knowledge they require to live a healthy, safe, responsible and balanced life. Although our Talking Point scheme is implemented through our ‘Feel Good Friday’, the themes of the programme are also embedded in in our school curriculum, assemblies and the wider school life. We also have visits, visitors and other opportunities involving the local community to support children’s spiritual, moral and cultural development at Healdswood Infant and Nursery School.
