Maple Class is taught by Mrs Clay.

Mrs Walker works with us and support our learning.

We have lots of fun in Year 1 and always try our best!

A few reminders...

  • Forest Schools is on a Wednesday afternoon.
  • Every Wednesday morning the children in Maple Class have PE.
  • Children need their book bags in school EVERY DAY.  We read with your children throughout the week and it is very important that this is recorded in their reading diaries.  Please remember to support your child with reading their reading book at home.  We ask that children read with an adult at least 3 times per week at home and that this is recorded in their Reading Diary.  Reading books are changed once a week however you can read anything additional with your child - magazines, recipes, picture books etc!

Year 1's Trip to Brierley Forest Park

Year 1 had a fantastic time on their trip to Brierley Forest Park. We participated in a Green Flag Ceremony celebrating the beautiful green spaces at Brierley Forest Park and Sutton Lawns. We identified different woodland creatures and spoke about their habitats and where they would live in a woodland. After lunch, we loved going on a mini beast hunt. We used nets and mats to collect different insects and looked closely using magnifying glasses. We especially loved pond dipping. We caught small fish, snails, pond weeds and different creatures that live in ponds. Mrs Wilson even caught a frog! We named him Wilson. Here are some photo's from our exciting adventure.

3rd October 2018

What a windy morning in Forest School today! We put on our waterproofs and wellies and headed outside to the Forest School Area. We have been kindly gifted a beautiful, new wooden bird table. So that we can feed the birds that visit our area, today Maple Class made bird feeders using seeds, raisins and lard. When these have set, we will hang them around the area for the birds to enjoy.
